How to Choose the Right Vibration Mount for Industrial Machinery
Selecting the right vibration mount is not simply a matter of choosing a mount that can support the weight of a machine.
The mount must be matched to the equipment, load, operating frequency, environment and required level of vibration control.
Wilrep’s vibration mount range includes elastomeric mounts, isolation pads and other configurations for different industrial applications.
1. Determine the Equipment Load
Start with the actual operating load rather than only the machine’s empty weight.
The load should be considered at each mounting point because the distribution may not be equal.
2. Consider Operating Frequency
The operating characteristics of the machine are important when selecting vibration isolation.
A mount that is suitable for one machine may not provide the same performance on another machine with different operating characteristics.
3. Consider Shock and Dynamic Forces
Some equipment produces continuous vibration, while other machinery produces impact or shock loads.
Wilrep offers different products for these applications, including SW Mounts for high-capacity shock isolation and PB Mounts for impact protection.
4. Consider the Environment
Oil, fuel, temperature, moisture and other environmental factors can affect isolation materials.
The material should therefore be selected according to the actual operating environment.
5. Consider Machine Movement
Some mobile or dynamic machinery requires additional movement control. The mount configuration should prevent excessive movement while maintaining the required isolation characteristics.
Choosing the Right Solution
Wilrep’s vibration isolation solutions cover applications including motors, pumps, compressors, HVAC equipment, generators and heavy industrial machinery.
For complex installations, product selection should be based on the machine’s load and operating conditions rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
